Lens Love: 105mm

Today is the second post in a series about our lenses and what we love about them! If you missed our full gear post, you can find that here.

And now on with the new lens loving!!

WE’RE GETTING CLOSER: 105mm 2.8

We mentioned last week that our first love was our 50mm lens. It gave us a great start at an affordable price. I learned a LOT on that lens. I shot everything for years with it! But just like a kid in school, you have to graduate and move up to keep learning! My next lens in my collection was my 105mm macro lens. This baby was a MUCH needed addition. I love love love details. I can’t say that enough. Whether it be a babies sweet eyelashes and tiny toes or some beautiful bling on your wedding day…the details MUST be captured. And this lens gets you up close, blurs out the rest and gives gorgeous sharp images!

What I didn’t expect when I bought this lens was how much we would use it for other things as well! My hubby (who is also my second shooter) used this primarily on the wedding day until we upgraded to the 70-200mm!   He loves the long focal length, the compression and low aperture that this lens offers.

Here are a few samples of this lens in action!

It is a GREAT addition to any photographer’s line-up! We have earned back every dime invested in this lens! The price tag is a little more hefty, but we have owned it for 6 years or more and still pull it out at every newborn session and wedding! Can’t be beat!
