A bit about LOVE

Happy Wednesday Friends! This wasn’t the blog post I had planned for today, but it was something I just felt the need to say.

I met with a 2016 Bride this week (Hi Katlyn!) and chatted a bit about my approach to weddings. I shared how I like to focus on bride and groom portraits on a wedding day. It is no secret that is my favorite part of the day. I told her how I didn’t have those photos from my wedding day. Back when I got married (geez that statement makes me feel OLD!), wedding photography wasn’t what it is now. My photographer started a few minutes before the wedding ceremony. I have two photos of my hubby and I staged at the alter and two “silly” photos of us hold up a do not disturb sign. That is the ONLY photos I have of the two of us alone from that day. It tells NOTHING about our love. Our wedding was documented with family portraits and the wedding party lined up. And even though the day was “captured” there is so much MISSING from my wedding day that I can never again have back.

So when I photograph weddings for others, I make it a mission to not only capture all those small details but I want to capture what their love is like. I want their children or grandchildren to find these photos one day and see how IN LOVE they were.

How I SEE love in others is totally because of the way I FEEL love in my own life. And I aim to capture that in my brides and grooms.

I see love as comfortable and secure. That feeling when his arms are wrapped around you how you can’t think about anything else but how good it feels. How you know that he is the one person that loves you just the way you are.

I see love as fun and playful. The way he makes you laugh or how you can be silly together and just enjoy each other’s company.

I see love as romantic. The way he sweeps you off your feet and makes your heart skip a beat. The sweet touch of his hand in yours and the way his lips softly kiss yours. Nothing better in that moment.

I look forward to capturing these moments of every couple together. It is really something you will cherish forever! I would give anything to have that now. I think my hubby and I are going to have to have photos done ASAP just to capture us at this stage for fun!
