Welcome Wedding Season

I sat in a room full of photographers, all struggling in their own way to run a business and maintain their personal life. We all had different stories- single moms, moms with sick children, some balancing full time jobs on top of this photography business. But we all had this overwhelming passion to photograph people in love. At some point, I remember sharing how hard it is for me to share my personal life at times. And Katelyn said…everyone needs to know what a superwoman you are! Raising five kids and running a business is really hard work. I won’t deny it. I wear a lot of hats in this life- mom, cook, maid, taxi driver, boo-boo kisser, diaper changer, wife, homework helper, and I also choose to run a full-time business on top of it. I do it because I love it. I love photographing weddings and babies. I can’t imagine my life without it.

You see, most of my life is a mess. My floor has crumbs, my walls have crayon scribbles, our beds are un-made, our clutter fills each room. I have a hard time seeing the “beauty” in this everyday mess at times. I hold back sharing photos of “life” because the imperfections that surround it. And really, that is part of the reason why I love my job so much! I get to dress up and photograph really beautiful things in beautiful places! It’s the one part of my life when I feel like a real person, not just a mom. And what makes the job even better is that I share the day with my hubby. He is there supporting me, assisting me and loving me. That’s what we do. And I have to admit that during the ceremony as we hear the preacher’s words about loving and serving your spouse, my heart swells with love for this man I chose to have by my side. And I will fully admit that sometimes, our relationship is stressed before a wedding but hearing those marriage vows makes me walk away trying harder to love him better. How blessed am I to have a job that I not only love, but makes me love better? I don’t think I could have it any better!

So, here’s to wedding season. Thanks for wisking me away from the daily grind, giving me an opportunity to follow my passion, and for making my marriage stronger! I will be sharing a deeper look at the WHY behind my business soon. It is something that is so important to me and I can’t wait to share it with all of you!
