Wedding Traditions

So much of the wedding day is deeply rooted in traditions. Most people follow tradition and don’t even realize why the tradition was started in the first place! Today I am sharing some of the traditions that I do and don’t love! This is just my opinion, so don’t take it too seriously.

WE LOVE…

BRIDAL PORTRAITS!
It is such a southern thing, but this session where the bride gets to dress up in her wedding attire and have her photo taken is one of our favorites. Typically the session is for her parents to print a photo to display at the reception and then later hang on their wall. But I love doing these because they are just so much fun! I look at it as a day of pampering for the bride (hair, nails, getting dolled up!) and you get to extend the time you wear that gown you love so much! Plus it is a GREAT trial run for the wedding day for make-up and hair and even your bouquet if you want!

CAKE!
I mean, who doesn’t love cake, right? This sweet tradition (see what I did there?) is one we can’t imagine a wedding without! Although, we love the new trends in doing something different like cupcakes, cake balls, cheesecake, and even a donut cake! I mean, sweets are a win-win, right?!

BOUQUETS
I am not even sure why the tradition of a bride carrying a bouquet of flowers down the isle started, but I L-O-V-E it! I secretly wish I could be a florist too….just so I could make stunning bouquets!

WHAT WE DON’T LOVE…

NOT SEEING EACH OTHER BEFORE THE WEDDING.
I think I have made it pretty clear that we are advocates for First Looks! If you need some convincing…read this post!

WHITE DRESSES
Who says the bride can only wear white? I am LOVING the trends of gowns in blush pink and hints of grey or taupe. Ivory has been making a big comeback the last few years too, but I love these unexpected dresses!

I love coloured dresses too! I shot a wedding with a pink dress (not blush) this season and it was amazing!
