The first thing I do when I chat with a wedding couple is explain my ideal timeline. I learned VERY quickly in my business that if I set the timeline for all things pre-wedding, it could help me MAXIMIZE what I give my clients. So here are three ways that timelines help you get the MOST of your wedding day.
1. EVERYONE IS ON THE SAME PAGE!
It gives everyone a deadline for WHEN to be ready. I clearly outline when I need the bride, groom, bridesmaids and groomsmen, and even the immediate family dressed and photo ready. This gives everyone a TIME to aim for. We know how crazy wedding days can become. We know that hair and make-up can take a while. We anticipate it all and give you the time we need you done by so that we can start your portraits for the day!
2. WE CAN BE PRO-ACTIVE NOT REACTIVE!
Wedding days include so much more than a ceremony and reception! The bulk of my work actually happens in the 4 hours leading up to the ceremony! We spend a lot of time photographing your details as well as photographing the day as it unfolds. When we have a timeline in place it gives us plenty of time to get those moments in. We can take our time and be creative because we know we have 30 minutes to capture this set of portraits, not 5. I can tell you from experience that when my couples allow me 40 minutes or more to capture their portraits, I can be so much more creative and deliver so many more beautiful photos than if I simply have 20 minutes at sunset. It also allows me to use several areas around the venue for photographs as well. Where as if I only have 20 minutes, we stay put and make the most out of the area we are in.
3. IT GIVES ME WARM UP TIME!
I start the day with detail shots and this is my warm up time. I get to work quietly to myself to style and capture your details. This is precious time for me and helps me set the tone of the day. When I nail great detail shots, it puts me on a creative high that last throughout your portraits and wedding day!
I promise we will work with you to create the perfect timeline for YOUR wedding day so that we can capture your day stunningly!

So much yes! I spend a good bit of time creating and revising timelines. More often than not this is a couples first wedding so it is imperative to have them and all of the vendors on the same page.
I love the “it gives me time to warm up” advice – it’s SO true! When we start our day just nailing details, it sets off a whole chain of awesome! 😀
