Our Christmas Home

Every year, I can hardly wait to decorate for Christmas.  It is one of my very favorite things.  Truthfully, as the halloween boxes are being put in storage, a Christmas box or two makes it’s way out.  I love the glow and twinkle of the holiday season!  While we do traditionally wait to put our tree up until Thanksgiving (we typically do real trees)  I am still anxious to start with the other decorations.    This year I felt burnt out on our Christmas decor.  We had done a similar version of it for years and I just wanted something different.  I didn’t want to buy all new stuff because the last thing I need is more Christmas decor!  So I challenged myself to dig into those boxes and use what we had in a new way.  I made several things feel new again with spray paint and ribbon!  And I couldn’t be happier with the look!

We wanted to go with a winter whites and creams this year so we stuck within that color palette in our living room.    I am always amazed at the transformation of paint!  Our nutcrackers have seen many stages from wood, gold, black and now white.  This year after I gave them a fresh white coat of paint, I also added some ribbon and wreath embelishment.  It made all the difference!  I also pulled out some OLD tree candles for one of our top shelves.  I have had those in storage for almost 15 years.  I could never part with them but they never seemed to make their way into our home again until this year.

We added a faux tree this year and I love how realistic it looks.  And since we went with faux tree, I decided to go with REAL greenery this year on the mantle.  My parents have the most beautiful trees that we get cuttings from and we created this lush garland.  We added the same ribbon to our stockings that were on the tree and gifts to tie it all together.  I love the simple and clean look of it all!

Our dining room is far from done, but we still decked the halls in there too.  Hung a few wreaths and added fresh greenery to the table and called it done!

I discovered this year that this is my favorite Christmas view.  That tree glowing in the background with our new table and light just makes my heart happy!

And lastly, our bedroom.  It looks pretty much the same as last year except we added some blue presents this year under the tree!

Merry Christmas everyone!  I will be back after the holiday to share lots of our favorites from 2020!!
