I never knew you could be happy and sad about something at the same time. Today my sweet Finn turns three. Truth be told, the last year has been a rough one. Many times I have found myself frustrated with parenting and overwhelmed with the stress of it all. Finn isn’t the best sleeper at times. He has random nights of being wide awake making for a sleepy mom the next day. He also is a complete handful at times…well actually he is just a typical two year old and I know that. I knew each time he would be pushing my buttons this stage would pass, but in my head I was counting down the days until he turned three and we started the next stage. Well, we made it.

And here I sit on his birthday feeling a bit sad that time has flown so quickly. Because he is our last and his baby days are far behind. This past year we gave away cribs, high chairs, baby gates and big car seats forever. We are full time big boy status. And part of it breaks my heart in a way I never imagined. Because for so long we were in baby mode and now we are done with all of that. But at the same time I am anxious to watch this little boy grow and succeed and become even more independent in this world. I am excited for the adventures our family has ahead with little men instead of babies. I can finally say that I am ready for time to slow down just a little. If we could soak in each day to the fullest and never forget through the chaos that we call life that we are SO BLESSED to have all these little boys in our life.

Finn, you have carved your own little path in this household. You have always been a smiley little guy and we thank you for that. No one can turn a room upside down faster or run with their feet hiked in the air quite like you can. Your cute little giggle and your carefully chosen words will always warm my heart. I love how giddy you get when we decorate for holidays. I love seeing the excitement and wonder in your eye. I love to watch you love your brothers. You are such an awesome little boy and I am so happy to be your mama. Happy THREE!
