When I was a little girl, my best friend Leslie moved away in second grade. I remember crying my eyes out on the playground her last day of school. Although we hadn’t known each other but 2 short years, she was my first real friend. She was my first penpal and I remember our first letters about ice-cream that included some Lisa Franke stickers for my collection. Her family had moved to Florida but each summer they would travel to visit her grandparents and she would spend the summer with me. It was like having a sister every summer. We would shop, do our make-up, lounge by the pool, and later in life chase boys. We also had our fair share of photo shoots together! The last summer we spent together was when I turned 16. After that we drifted apart. I saw her twice since then but only briefly as we lived states apart and life got busy. We had reconnected via Facebook a few years back. After a few short chats, I told her my brother had moved to Florida.
Fast forward to now, Leslie became my sister for real. She married my Brother on the Florida coast. They were probably the most laid back couple ever. The weather changed their beach front wedding plans and instead they married on the docks surrounded by boats (fitting for my brother) in the falling rain. It was a small ceremony where they were surrounded by family and close friends. Neither of them cared about the rain or the change of plans, they just smiled at each other and went with the flow. Luckily the weather perked back up the next day and we were able to do their portraits on the beach!
Here is a peek at their wedding.
Leslie, welcome to our family officially. I wish you both many years of happiness together.
