3 tips for getting ready photographs

One of the most exciting parts of the day is when you slip into that wedding gown on your wedding day! Photographing this part of the day however can be a challenge. Most getting ready spots aren’t that photographic in nature. So today, I am giving you 3 tips to help make those sweet moments look better on camera!

  1. LOOK FOR LIGHT!
Make sure your getting ready room has WINDOW light!! It will make all the difference in your photos. I will photograph you close to the largest window in the room.

2. CLEAR THE ROOM
The bridal suite is often the place for you and your bridesmaids to get your hair and make-up finished as well as get dressed. You spend a lot of time in that suite and naturally a lot of clutter will accumulate. One of the best things to do for your photographs is have your girls clear the room of clutter right before I arrive. Just slide everything away from the window and out of your background.

3. HAVE YOUR MAIDS AND MEN DRESSED!
Make sure your bridesmaids (and Groomsmen for the Groom) are dressed and ready when it is time for you to get ready. Mother of the Bride usually wants to be ready by this point too. Typically they help you dress and will be photographed. Having everyone ready by that point will make sure your timeline isn’t delayed!

A final note. If your space isn’t the most photographic (pink walls, crazy wallpaper, no window light) fear not!! We will either crop in close to remove distracting elements or we will move you to a better dressing location!
