THE JOURNAL

rebecca and quint

Do you ever wish you could have a do-over in life for just ONE day? If I could, it would be the day I had this session. You see, I was traveling to Washington DC for the cherry blossom sessions. I had it all mapped out, and I allowed myself a good 2 hour extra time window to account for traffic and a lunch break on the way there. As I got outside of Richmond, VA the traffic started and my GPS updated from what should have been a 1.5 hour drive to a 3.5 hour drive. And the closer I got to Washington, the more time my GPS added to the trip. I stayed calm for the most part, but then as I watched my 2 hour cushion disappear I called Rebecca. She gave me a back road to take to get off of the interstate but my time window was still way too close. I had been in the car for 8 hours and I wasn’t about to give up! When I reached their home a good 45 minutes after our original meeting time, we jumped in their car, drove into the busiest part of the city and got to work.

If you have never experienced the cherry blossom festival, let me tell you it is MADNESS! There were people and trashcans and porta-johns EVERYWHERE. Not so great for a photo shoot. Add to that we had about a 20 minute window of time before we were in darkness to shoot. Rebecca and Quint were awesome. Never once complained about the rush or the traffic. They rolled through my FASTEST session to date. We weren’t able to get a bunch of the cherry blossoms in the photos like we had hoped, but we found a row of “baby” trees and used those. We made it work. I am so happy that I started with a couple that was used to me! They just rolled with it! 🙂

Rebecca and Quint. I am so glad we were able to make this mini session work. I know great things are ahead in your future! Glad to have captured a piece of your Washington life before your new paths ahead! Thanks for being amazing!

The rain set in for the rest of my trip, so this is my only little cherry blossom post to share for now. I have great plans to return next year!
