I love using new locations! It really breaths life back into my work. The only down side is not knowing what places will look like before I photograph there. Will there be good light, is the background not too distracting, etc. But that kind of makes it fun too. I am good with winging it! I usually just arrive early (if I can) and case things out!
So when chatting with Elisabeth and Nick about their engagement session, they mentioned loving the outdoors and hiking. I knew we had to incorporate it into their session. So, I suggested Raven Rock. It is kind a mid-point between us and it provides an outdoor feel for their session. So I cased it out online and then arrived early the day of. I looked at the maps of trails and although I didn't have time to hike them yet, I felt confident that I had a somewhat plan. So when they arrived, I explained that there were two main trails. One that was 5 miles to a waterfall and one that was 2 miles to the rock/overlook. Of course we all thought the waterfall sounded so cool…so the 5 mile hike it was. Now, those of you that know me, are probably thinking…5 mile hike? REALLY? I am NOT a hiker. It was pretty obvious to everyone that passed us on the trail as I was really not dressed for the occasion either! haha! But we hiked that trail stopping few times along the way. And we got to the waterfall to find that you had to wade through WAIST DEEP water to get to it. Needless to say, we didn't want to do that. So BUMMER! We hiked for nothing! So by the time we got back to the parking lot, the sun was starting to set and we just quickly did a few shots around there. Elisabeth and Nick ROCKED their 15 minute mini session. Can you tell that they just hiked 5 miles?! haha!
But then we decided to meet again, give the other trail a try and see what we got. So here is the second portion of their engagement session! And it was just in time for BEAUTIFUL leaves!
RTHESE ROOTS!!!!!
To say I am excited to capture their wedding would be an understatement! It was such a pleasure hiking and chatting and learning about these two! I am honored to be the one that documents their beginning as husband and wife! Thanks you guys for the fun hikes! :)
