One of my favorite things is decorating for Christmas! We pulled out our Christmas boxes in early November because I just couldn’t wait! The kids have so much fun decorating too! We don’t host Christmas parties and our little ones are a little more curious than some of my decorating will allow, but we still deck our halls as much as we can! I am a creature of habit, so when I find something I like, I repeat it with small tweaks! We have been decorating our living room the same way for a few years with just small changes along the way. I like to collect things after Christmas (on sale cheap!) and hoard them for the next year. My approach to decorating is also to take it one room at a time. So we naturally started our collection with the living room. We used to just have a tree and mantle decor and I have slowly added over the years. One of the first things I bought was the bayleaf garland you will see throughout our house. I bought it from the pottery barn outlet after Christmas and got all that they had. I think I paid $4 for each piece! And I ADORE IT! I wish I had more! Last year we bought the restoration hardware copper wire lights with the timer and added it to EVERY piece of garland we have. It just made it even more beautiful! And I love the fact that my house just comes alive at 5pm everyday without having to do a thing! We fell in love with those copper lights so much that we added candles with timers in the space this year too! I adore it!
The dining room is something I am just now starting to decorate! I added the gold wreaths on our pantry doors which I had wanted for years. I also bought the sweet Reindeer on the table from west elm. I love them! Our deer friend got a wreath this year too!
The rest of the house is sprinkled with tiny bits of decor, some fresh cut greenery from my parents’ yard and some cheap flowers from Harris Teeter that I arranged into three vases! One of my favorite tips too, is to add fresh greenery to garlands. We did that over our dining/kitchen entry and it made the garland so beautiful! I added faux pinecones too! I also add pinecones and other natural elements like the grapevine to our tree for a more rustic feel!
So there you have it…our little home. And be warned, you will see crumbs and toys and other imperfections because this momma to 5 was just to tired to make it all perfect! ha! And we still need to caulk and paint our crown molding in our living room. ha!

So festive!!! I love the garland with the cards hanging – much better than just taping them to the cabinets, lol.
