Holy Moly! This spring is going to be a baby season for sure! I have lots of maternity sessions on the calendar and I am super excited! I thought this would be a great time to update a post with maternity tips! I haven’t done one in several years and a lot has changed since then! So here are the tips you need to rock your maternity session!
SCHEDULE YOUR SESSION AROUND 30-35 WEEKS
We recommend this time in your pregnancy because we want you to feel good! If we aim for 30-35 weeks you will be less swollen and you won’t fee too big yet, but you are showing a lot and can rock that baby bump! Plus, you never know when a baby will arrive and we have had several early ones in the past!
PLAN YOUR WARDROBE-
We have a BUNCH of styling tips in this post! Look them over and plan your wardrobe for the session!
GO PRO HAIR/MAKE-UP!
Get pampered and really just enjoy the day! You will look and feel your best and you won’t regret it! We can recommend someone for your session if needed! 🙂
HAVE YOUR HUBBY JOIN YOU!
We love when Spouses come for your session! Just have them dress to match you! This is an exciting time for both of you and we love capturing you together! Plus it takes some of the pressure off of you for a few photos too! 🙂
PICK A LOCATION THAT FITS YOU!
We love finding new locations but we also love returning to old favorites. Nature is usually our go to location (think creeks, fields, plantations, etc) but we also love shooting a more urban look too! Keep in mind that if you want to bare your bump you will want a more secluded location with less watching eyes!
WEAR NEUTRAL UNDERGARMENTS!
Maybe a funny tip, but it will show if you wear a pattern or bold color under the gowns. Also some the fitted gowns will show seams, so be aware of that! 🙂
BE CONFIDENT!
I have been there- your hot, swollen and you feel huge! But please remember that the more confident you feel the better your photos will look! Rock that baby bump and really just enjoy your session! I promise you will look like a hot mama!
