image protection

Let’s talk about image protection.

Ok, so I admit, this isn’t the most fun topic ever but a SUPER important one. One of the main reasons I was hesitant to start doing wedding photography was the fear in messing up someone’s wedding day. I can’t imagine the heartbreak and tears that would follow for everyone involved if something tragically happened to precious wedding photos. It makes me want to cry thinking about it!

Now that I have been capturing weddings for years, I wanted to share a bit about how we protect YOUR wedding day images! It is a job we don’t take lightly. In a world of technology, one thing is certain….technology always glitches or fails at some point. So when it comes to your images, we don’t put all our eggs into one basket! Here are some steps we take throughout your wedding day process to keep those images safe!

DURING THE WEDDING:

LET’S BACK UP!
One of the most important things to have in order to deliver quality images without fail is a backup plan. On your wedding day, we arrive and shoot everything on TWO cameras with TWO views. We also have back-up gear nearby incase any of our gear decides to suddenly stop working. We keep them loaded with memory cards and fresh batteries so they are ready to go if we ever need them.

DOUBLE UP! MULTIPLE CARDS, MULTIPLE CAMERAS.
Going back to above, we shoot with TWO CAMERAS AND TWO VIEWS. (and two back-ups)…but more than that we use double the cards. Our pro gear has TWO memory card slots in each camera, allowing us to record your images to TWO cards at once. So if one card fails, the other has it! We use this system throughout your wedding day.

AFTER THE WEDDING:

DOWN WITH THE DOWNLOAD
The minute we get home from a wedding, we download one set of the cards to our computer. From there we will begin our editing workflow. BUT, your images also stay on our cards until the wedding is completely finished and delivered FULLY. So now your images are in THREE places.

BURN BABY BURN
The minute your images are culled and edited, we burn them to a USB, transfer them to our external storage system and then place them in an online downloadable gallery where they will be stored for years to come. So no matter what life throws your way, you can still access your photos!

We hope this has provided some comfort in knowing we take great measures to keep your images safe!

I always love reading how other photographers back up their sessions. This seems pretty much identical to what we do! Your couples should feel assured that their photos are in great hands!
