Happy Monday friends! I have some sweet little girls to share with you today, but first I wanted to share a little personal story as well! I walked into Megan and Chance’s houses for the second time last weekend. I know I mentioned something similar to what I am about to write before when I have posted one of their sessions, but it’s worth repeating! When I was in their home, every room I entered was filled with my photos I have taken for them. Engagement photos, wedding photos, baby photos and family photos. And my heart swelled with pride. They commented on it and I told them I felt like it was my own little art gallery visiting their place. And the truth is, Megan and Chance have brought me into so many wonderful parts of their life. Their life story. And I have been capturing it all. It is a gift and an honor to be able to do that. In the photography industry, so much empahasis is placed on getting published, winning contests, getting social media recognition or shooting at these extravagant places and while those things are awesome, they are meaningless if they aren’t for another purpose. I shoot for my client’s walls, for their wedding albums, for the photo they keep beside their bed or placed in a locket by their heart. That is why I do what I do. Don’t get me wrong, I love shooting beautiful things. Styling wedding details is one of my favorites, epic locations excite me too. But when the day is done, I really just want my clients to fill their homes with these photos for years to come. That is the reason why I do it. It isn’t to fill my website with beautiful things. It isn’t to put on instagram for others to see. It’s for those people right there in that moment that I am sharing with them. I want them to remember it and when they look back on those photos one day in the future to feel the emotions come running back.
On this day we captured Isla at 6 months in their home with big sister Ava tagging right along. We documented that infectious smile, those sweet little cheeks, the short hugs they shared and the big leaps these girls are making. It is a moment that is fleeting. I hope that one day when they are grown Megan and Chance will look back on these photos and tell Isla how cute her giggle was during these photos. And tell Ava how badly she wanted to be in the photos with her little sister. And I hope most of all, they look back on them and feel proud for raising such sweet little girls. (Parenting is hard y’all!)
Enjoy some peeks at these sweet little girls….
We had to sneek big sister Ava in a few too!
If you liked this session you might like Isla’s newborn session.
