We traveled down winding roads full of barns and mountain homes. We climbed the hill on our last turn and passed by the rustic gate. When we got out of the car, we were greeted by the crisp autumn air. The leaves usually have turned by this part of October, but they were just starting to wear their bold colors. Everywhere I looked there was bright oranges, yellows and reds mixed in with the green mountain scape. It was just what Amber had wanted. After growing up in the midwest, she longed for mountains and the fall season. Living in Miami, they don’t have either. So this mountain elopement provided her with the perfect setting for her dream wedding! The rustic lodge housed their closest family and friends for the weekend. The entire house was filled with excitement when I arrived. Amber was calm and all smiles. As a wedding planner, she knew how stressful and chaotic a wedding day could be, which is exactly why she planned a quiet low-key elopement. It was truly a day, just for the two of them. This ceremony was completely different from any I have captured. Instead of focusing on florals and decorations, tablescapes and bridal parties, we instead had the pleasure of focusing on the two of them. We captured some of their details, watched as they read letters written by the other and joined them on the side of the mountain for a sweet ceremony amongst family. It was the perfect day. Sometimes I think weddings get a little lost trying to keep up with the pinterest worthy decor and lose sight of what they are really about. Not this day. It was truly a celebration of two people in love joining as one and starting a lifetime of love together. Amber may not have had elaborate florals, but her day was still full of personal touches like her mom’s lace on her wedding gown and his Grandmother’s wedding gown lace on her shoes. And those kind of things are the ones I adore the most!
Although I had been talking to Amber for over a year about her elopement ceremony, we officially met on her wedding day. And I can say that by the time we left their wedding, they felt like friends we had known forever. These two welcomed us with open arms. We enjoyed getting to know them and all their family including their sweet dog Rogue! These two were so natural together as well. Amber told me they loved to laugh together and they did quite a bit, but they still had those soft sweet intimate moments as well. I think those were my favorite. I could just sense a peace when they were together- like a favorite pair of blue jeans. They were the perfect fit.
Amber and Warren, we loved being a part of your special day. It was truly one of my favorite things I have captured. I had a REALLY hard time narrowing down portraits to share on here! So be prepared to see a lot! Thank you so much for trusting us to capture your beginning as husband and wife. We are truly honored!
