Studio update!

Today I am excited to share a little bit of my space! A few years back, my hubby helped bring my work office dreams to life. He spent endless hours adding wainscoting, building cabinets and really just giving me a space to chase this dream. Initially this office doubled as a newborn studio. I needed a spot with great light to photograph sweet babies. I still do newborns here today. However, my focus has shifted so much in the last 2 years and I don’t have a big need for the shooting space as much. The more I refined my work to be focused on weddings, the less I needed the room full of props that surrounded me. Last year, I started thinking of a way to make this office a little more. I live in a house full of BOYS. And as a mom to five, our house is over run with toys and shoes and just life. I needed my office to not only be a place to do work, but to inspire me as well. I wanted a spot that was just mine. So I started running with that vision.

I started selling a LOT of my newborn props, because I just had WAY too much that I never even used! And with the money, I purchased some new studio furniture and accessories! It was a win-win! My entire vision for this space was based off of the rug. I had been eyeing this anthropologie rug for months. When it finally went on sale and I had a birthday coupon, I knew it was meant to be! One of the things I love most about this space is how light it feels. I come in here often, light my favorite candle, sit in my chair and just breathe. It is the ONLY space in my home that my kids aren’t allowed. Some evenings Travis and I sit in here to do our devotional. This room just makes me feel peace. I think that is so important! When you work from home, you really need a place you can be surrounded by positive energy. I simply can’t work when I am surrounded by clutter or messes. So having this area has made my life so much easier!

The opposite side of the room hasn’t changed a bit.  I still have my cabinets and desk area.  I am not showing it today because it is MESSY!  ha!  But you can see it on the old studio post I shared YEARS ago!
