What to have in your getting ready room!

This is another post for my brides! I have learned a LOT in the years I have been photographing weddings. One of the biggest things that changed my wedding day workflow forever was educating my brides on WHAT to have with them in their bridal suite. We begin the day there and if it starts smoothly, it keeps the entire day in check! I always include a little checklist on the final timeline so the bride has it handy, but today I am going to walk through what you should have and why! :)I Whenever we get to a wedding and the rings are divided out or the bouquets aren’t with the girls, it throws a major kink in our day. Usually it results in MORE photos after the wedding instead of before and sometimes we forget to do ring shots at all!

So here is the list of items you need to have with you in your bridal prep room!

1. ALL THREE RINGS! I adore ring shots. The rings symbolize your marriage and I like to start the day off showcasing them! Rings pair beautifully with your florals or invitations, so having them all there is key! If the rings are with the best man/maid of honor, etc, it makes it harder for me to accomplish this later. Once we move past the detail shots, we usually forget to go back!

2. Your invitation suite and program- I love laying all the wedding paper goods out and capturing them. They also make great backdrops for other elements too (see tip one!) After all, you took the time to pick out and send invitations to your guest, you might as well document them for you to remember forever!

3. Jewelry- earrings, bracelets, necklaces, etc. Bring anything you are wearing!
This is always a fun thing for me! I love styling jewelry!

4. Shoes. We can’t forget the wedding day shoes!

5. veil and hairpieces- this makes a great accessory for shots as well.

6. Your dress (on a nice hanger!).

7. the bouquet – Flowers make beautiful backdrops!

8. Extra elements! I usually mention that a cutting or two of flowers used in your bouquet are great to use in styling your details too. Ribbons, fabric or any special element you are incorporating in your decor can work great too! I would love it if you brought along a tray or a Mrs. Box too!

9. Garter and perfume. If you chose to wear a garter or have a special wedding day perfume we will photograph it in the beginning too!

And we can’t forget the guys!!

Guys checklist includes:
Belt
shoes

cufflinks
boutineers
